You must be 18 years or older to participate. Please read and initial the following statements indicating you understand the commitments you are responsible for while the horse is in your care: This document constitutes a binding agreement between the trainer and The Wisconsin Horse Alliance, Inc.The trainer is financially responsible for the assigned horse’s needs including but not limited to veterinary care, farrier care, boarding, feed expenses, all transportation expenses from pick up location and to and from show events. Under no circumstances will the trainer be reimbursed for these expenses, even if the trainer’s participation in the program is terminated before completion. (required)

The trainer will maintain the horse in good health following any state laws and local ordinances regarding the care and houseing of equine species and alert the rescue organization within 24 hours of any veterinary or farrier emergencies or changes in medical status during the 90 day training period(required)

The trainer will share all veterinary or farrier records with the rescue organization providing the horse. The trainer will also be responsible for bringing a current coggins (provided by the rescue organization) as well as any needed health certificates to all Midwest Rescue Horse Trainers challenge events the horse will participate in.(required)

The rescue organization that owns the horse is allowed to do up to 4 on-site visits with at least 24 hour notice. If the rescue organization believes there is concern with the horse’s care the Midwest Rescue Horse Trainer’s Challenge horse selection committee is to be contacted immediately and shall, with the rescue organization, determine what action, if any, needs to be taken.(required)

If the horse becomes lame or unable to perform task needed to complete the training program, you need to immediately contact the Rescue Horse Makeover horse selection committee and the horse’s rescue organization. If this occurs within the first 30 days of the trainer’s possession of the horse, we will do our best to provide an alternative horse. If it is after the first 30 days, you will no longer be able to participate in the event and the horse will be returned to the Rescue Organization(required)

It is understood that the rescue organization owns the horse and the horse will be available for adoption after the Midwest Rescue Horse-Trainers Challenge. Anyone, including trainers, who is interested in adopting the horse will have to fill out an adoption application with the appropriate rescue organization and be approved by the rescue organization. If the horse is not adopted it will be returned to the rescue organization(required)

I, along with my agents, representatives, heirs and assigns, further voluntarily agree and warrant to release and hold harmless The Wisconsin Horse Alliance, Inc., and its board members from any liability whatsoever for any claim of negligence, including, but not limited to, claims related any incident caused by or related to my involvement in the Midwest Rescue Horse Trainer’s Challenge Program such as injuries, death or property damage from travel associated with Program activities, mounting; riding; dismounting; walking; grooming; feeding; and any and all other animal care and training activities. I also agree to allow Midwest Rescue Horse Makeover or rescue organization to contact individuals listed above for references.(required)
